STAFF DEVELOPMENTS AT FÈIS ROIS At last night’s (23rd June) Fèis Rois AGM the Board of Directors welcomed the recent staff additions to Fèis Rois and predicted a successful future for the new team and the organisation during an exciting period of development. Ian Taylor and Charlotte Sutton have joined the Fèis Rois Education team heading up the Community and Schools posts respectively. Ian’s personal and professional involvement in traditional music and youth work provide a valuable set of new skills for Fèis Rois, while Charlotte brings a huge amount of development experience at regional and national level from her previous role as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s Director of Education. The Board wished them both well and acknowledged the tremendous work already being achieved by Allison Watson in her new role as Programme Manager, and Natalie Kilgallen whose contribution in a variety of support roles has been invaluable in recent months. We are delighted Marion Mackay will continue as temporary Business Manager where her specialist background in accounting has proved extremely useful. The Board paid particular tribute to the Fèis Rois Director, Rita Hunter, acknowledging the tremendous amount of work the organisation achieved under her leadership in 2007, especially the Celtic Connections concert in January and the Harvest concerts in October as part of Highland 2007. The Board look forward very much to welcoming Rita back to the helm after an extended period of ill health and will continue to offer her every support towards a full recovery.
The Board would also like to extend a warm thank you to all those who have helped us in the last few months - Rita's absence and the various staff changes have placed a heavier than usual workload on the organisation and those associated with it - your patience and understanding has been most appreciated. Thanks to all of you who continue to support our work. | |
